What we don’t do!

Hopefully you will now have the idea that we are not a regular project based management consultancy business.  We are looking to work with you for the long term under the Business Support Programme, but there are a few things that we definitely don’t and won’t do.

No endless questionnaires.
Firstly we don’t sell or use a ‘fixed methodology’ style consultancy product or system. Whilst we have a range of analytical and process tools that we use for evaluation, and we do make use of checklists to make sure we have covered everything we need to (this is especially true in the early days of our relationship were we are looking to absorb information about your business), we are definitely not about selling you ‘off the shelf’ consulting. We will not get you fill in a big form, go away and process it and deliver back a big glossy report about your business - in our book that’s not delivering ‘Practical Advice that Works’

Our view is that your business and your particular situation and the nature of the advice and assistance you may need will be unique to you and your business.  We may sometimes use a bit of business school theory where it’s relevant, but fundamentally it’s about meeting your needs from the significant resources available to us in the IIB network.

We are not ‘lifestyle’ coaches.
We don’t do ‘lifestyle’ coaching or the like, we may offer the odd reflection on such things and we certainly believe that getting a good work/life balance is important, but first and foremost we are about helping you in your business.  Our perspective will be primarily commercial and related to you and your needs as a business owner manger.

We won’t pretend to know how to run your business better than you.
We are not going to pretend that we will know how to run your business better than you and start trying to tell you exactly what (or what not) to do.  How you run your business is ultimately your call.  Our role is one of an advisor and consultant, that’s consultant in the true sense of the word – an advisor that you can consult with on various matters.  We will seek to deliver the practical advice you need and make proposals about things you should consider doing and guide you though those if you decide to run with them, but the objective is to assist you to manage your business in new and better ways.  We cannot manage your business for you, but we will deliver the ‘Practical Advice that Works’ to help help you to manage it better!

No crazy promises!
The final thing we don’t do is guarantee complete and total success for you and your business if you sign up with us.  This may seem like a bizarre statement to make, but it is just part of being honest with you - which we will always be. Our ideal objective is to deliver a ‘3 for 1’ benefit to cost ratio for our clients over time. However with so many variables involved it can sometimes be difficult to directly measure those benefits, for example spotting a risk factor you had not previously identified and taking steps towards avoiding a possible loss may be difficult to put a precise value on. Similarly it may be difficult to put a value on the benefit of just having somebody totally external and independent to be able to talk to about your business. The fact is we cannot guarantee anything, apart from the opportunity to think in new ways about your business and how you manage it.
